Before half term some of our pupils had a visit from Swansea University's Innovation and knowledge centre SPECIFIC. The focus of the talk was Low carbon technologies for buildings, Active buildings, renewable energies, Photovoltaic panels, thermal energy storage materials, capturing and storing the wasted energy from industries to power homes. They even covered Birchgrove's own energy use and looked at how PV panels would help. big thank you to Dr Joanna Clarke and Dr Jonathan Elvin's for their time, also for the engaging quiz with wonderful prizes and practical tasks.

As a result of superb effort, work and behaviour a bus full of year 9 pupils were taken on a trip into town visiting McDonald’s following by Tenpin Bowling.
